Breton (7/10)
Start 21:35 / End 22:50
Breton is an English band named after French Surrealist André Breton. I have to admit I could not make any connection between the namesake of the band and their music. But of course this is not necessary at all. Breton presented their second album “War Room Stories” that has been recorded in Berlin last year. The band had been looking forward to presenting the album to the Berlin crowd. And the crowd was really happy and cheered a lot at all the songs and singer Roman’s declaration of
love for Berlin. He also often tried to involve the audience in the show and succeeded most of the time. All people in the band seem to be great dancers. It was really fun seeing them on stage.
The music – a kind of Franz Ferdinand meets Big Beat meets the Foals meets Dub – left me a bit untouched unfortunately. The song Edward the Confessor (from the first album obviously) being an important exception.
