Gary Clark Jr. (8/10)
Start 23:00 / End 24:45
When you listen his voice and his guitar playing you can’t don’t think to Jimi Hendrix and he does nothing to keep the distance from him or to hide it. The first lines were full of 50-60 years old people looking this coloured guy playing his electric guitar with the same mood that one person had about 40 years ago. The venue was sure not the best for a good live experience: a narrow basement with a small stage at the same floor level, low roof, hot and with an air impossible to breathe. The gig went sold out more for the small venue dimensions than the number of attendees. Despite all Gary Clark Jr. offered a great performance: his Soul Blues Funky Rock took maybe even more power from this narrow space: the public appreciated his work and urged him from the beginning to the end. Gary Clark Jr. seemed to be a bit shy when he had to talk to his public but it was completely another story by singing with his amazing warm smooth voice or by playing riffs and solos. Sometimes his solos reached almost the threshold of the guitar self masturbation, but we forgive him for that because he’s young, he’s talent and he’ll give us a lot of satisfaction in short future!

Thanks so much for the review+photos of the set.
I was way too involveld in the music to be making any kind of photos/videos whatever,so I appreciate them very much 🙂 !!! You must have been standing right in front of me.
It was a truly memorable night, I got shivers up and down my spine and never felt music the way I did at that night. The thought that went going through my mind all night was : This must have been what it was like to see Hendrix play for the first time…Simply amazing!
I even was lucky enough to catch him after the show, he is such a humble person and so kind. I will definitly go to see him play if he comes to town again.
