Delta Love (7/10)
Start 21:05 / End 21:50
The Berlin-based duo Delta Love opened the evening in front of a bunch of people, instantly bringing them back in the 60s. Its mix of Psych-Surf Rock hit directly people’s faces, and sounded like an acid version of The Men. Delta Love is surely a band to keep eye on, the umpteenth nice surprise coming from the Berlin underground scene. Check its stuff below, it really is worthy!
The Men (8/10)
Start 22:20 / End 23:25
Only The Men can figure out how to manage the merging of so many different Rock shades they use, such as Noise, Country, Surf and Psych; all of this achieving such a rich sound! There could have not been a better choice than the venue Festsaal Kreuzberg, in order to offer a concert with this sound quality. In spite of the hype around this band, the audience isn’t the one of big events, but it’s noisy enough, and doesn’t miss a chance to show how much The Men are appreciated. The band played many songs of its latest album “New Moon”, where the Noise component appears weaker than in older albums. Nevertheless this material works all much better live, where it acquires a stronger push of energy. After about 45 min, the band started pushing on the accelerator: music became wild, and people couldn’t stop shaking! Although I prefer this furious version of The Men, I have to admit that their 60s Psych-Surf Rock influences make the sound fresh and original, so…support this great band from New York and keep rocking!
