A Liquid Landscape (7/10)
Start 20:00 / End 20:45
A Liquid Landscape, from Holland, is the band chosen as opener for the European tour of Crippled Black Phoenix. The band has a new album “The Largest Fire Known To Man”, ready to be released soon, from which many songs have been played in preview during the show. The new pieces confirmed and brought forward its music style, based on Progressive Rock and Post-Rock, that shared many features with the sound of Cripple Black Phoenix. A Liquid Landscape offered to the audience an emotional and involving show, which, despite of long songs, seemed to be well appreciated by the attendees. The pieces could merge and fuse together in a liquid flow, featured by instrumental parts and soft interludes that ended up in an explosion of sounds. Enhanced by the beautiful voice of Fons Herder, the riffs and solos of Niels Van Dam and an impressive rhythmic session, the performance of A Liquid Landscape demonstrated the band quality even as live musicians and songwriters, in case someone had still doubts!

Crippled Black Phoenix (9/10)
Start 21:10 / End 23:40
Crippled Black Phoenix is a British band born in 2004 from the mind of Justin Greaves, active also in other bands as Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey. Around him a collective of more than thirty different members have rotated during the band career. Now the band is promoting in Europe its latest work “A Brighter a Tomorrow”, and Berlin had the honor to host one of dates. The band came to the stage in seven members to start a show, that will be hardly forgotten by who had the luck to attend it. If you want to know about the songs, take a look at the setlist here below: if you know them just from the album, amplify their power and beauty twenty times, and you could have an idea about it. Impossible to describe even the atmosphere you could breath there: maybe the pictures could give you an impression, but it’s not enough to understand the energy flow, which went back and forward between the audience and the stage. The set has been closed by “Burnt Reynolds”, that left the whole venue sing along, while the band was leaving the stage and then, when it reappeared to finish the song. The encore was then featured by crazy and unexpected songs, where the medley of “Bella Ciao” (an Italian Folk partisan song) with “Il Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido”, both revisited in Punk version, let all the attendees jump and danced. An unforgettable experience, an amazing show performed by a band composed of great musicians. Don’t miss this tour, if you have the possibility to live the music of Crippled Black Phoenix for one night.
