Still Parade (6/10)
Start 20:05 / End 20:35
Still Parade is a Berlin project, born from the mind of Niklas Kramer, with some Eps out that got the attention of the critics. Accompanied on stage by drums and bass guitar, Niklas opened the Cold Specks show with a pleasant half hour set of a well-made and catchy Indie Pop and Dream Pop. Its songs are warm, full of harmonies and hazy melodies: the audience seemed to appreciate them and, despite a lack of originality, the project looks like on the good track to get in future positive results.

Cold Specks (8/10)
Start 21:10 / End 22:20
Al Spx is the tiny mastermind behind Cold Specks, a sweet and powerful singer-songwriter from Canada. The band, that took the name from a line in James Joyce’s Ulysses and can feature collaboration with Moby and Swans, released its sophomore album, Neuroplasticity, just last August, again accompanied by positive feedbacks from critics and music fans. Once Cold Specks came to the stage, the audience attention was captured by Al, in a black dress with a wide hat, who started singing “Let Loose The Dogs” with her magical fascinating voice. Songs as “A Broken Memory” and “Old Knives” could show at the best its particular music proposal, described by someone as “Doom Soul”, that blends together Soul, Blues Rock, Gothic Rock and Indie Folk. The pieces of the setlist was alternated by old gospel spirituals and traditional folk songs, sung alone by Al on stage with guitar and sometimes baritone sax, that could enhance her great quality as vocalist. The show ended after an encore, where Al singed almost all the time alone and left after performing the touching “Lay Me Down”. The live performance had the merit to show to everybody that Cold Specks is not just Al, but also a great band composed by inspired and capable musicians, able all together on stage to create a unique music that touches your soul and goes inside till your stomach.
