Spain (8/10)
Start 21:45 / End 23:30
Spain is an American band formed in 1993 by the singer and bassist Josh Haden. The band, after some years of inactivity, reformed with a new line-up in 2007, and released its fifth album “Sargent Place” last year, receiving very positive critic responses. After a brief announce where was said that the show was going to be recorded and that some guests would have been part of the evening, Josh came to the stage with his band, tonight as trio with Kenny Lyon on guitar and Joel Virgel-Vierset on drums. Starting with “Love At First Sight”, Spain could show live its peculiar Alternative Rock, where Folk, Blues, Jazz and Country merge harmoniously together. With a setlist that proposed typical nocturnal songs with film-noir atmosphere, and also emotionally powerful pieces where the band could give its best, Spain bewitched and left with opened mouth the audience. Worth of mention was without doubts the first encore, where Spain proposed “From The Dust” in a sort of psychedelic version thanks to the German guitarist Jochim Arbeit as guest on stage, and an amazing Jazz version of “World of Blue”, accompanied on stage by the saxophonist André Vida. After the touching execution of “Spirituals” as second encore, Spain left the stage leaving the audience going home with a smile on the face and on the hearth, aware to have attended a jewel of show, still a secret for the mass.
