mOck (7/10)
Start 21:05 – End 21:40
The opening band mOck from Berlin had the privilege to perform in front of its audience. The last releases of the German band are Ep and split, leaving the self-titled debut album of 2012, mixed by John McEntire of Tortoise, the only album released until today, although we are sure there’ s no so much time to wait for the sophomore band effort. Bastard sons of bands like Karate or Tortoise, mOck showed all its high technical skills as musicians on a set based on Math and Indie Rock, where the rhythm flew oblique through different tempos, sudden changes, rich of stop-and-go, but without exaggerating in complexity, always keeping high the audience attention with catchy but not banal sounds.

Exit Verse (8/10)
Start 21:55 – End 23:05
Exit Verse is the new project of the Indie Rock star Geoff Farina, famous for being the mastermind of Karate till 2005, when Geoff decided to quit the band due to severe hearing problems from years of loud performances. After some more acoustic oriented projects, Mr. Farina formed Exit Verse in 2013 and published the self-titled debut album in late 2014, where the electric guitar and the rock sound have retaken the main role. The live show at Privatclub just confirmed the positive expectation coming from the album: Geoff is still in a great form with his unique voice and guitar solos, supported by the intense work of Pete Croke on bass and the accurate drumming of Chris Dye, who replaced John Dugan that left the band after the album recording. Exit Verse´s sound still reminded to the tense dynamics of Karate, but included also strong influences of classic Rock and Punk, that gave to the songs a more mature flavor. In the end Exit Verse offered a great show in front the Berlin audience, that didn´t respond so numerous as you could expect, but Geoff & Co. are real musicians and didn´t spare themselves. We could only say thanks to Exit Verse to don´t let the Karate´s spirit disappear!
