John Haughm (6/10)
Start 21:00 – End 21:25
After the cancelled tour of the previous announced opening band Crown, a solo performance of John Haughm was scheduled to open the evening. Famous for being the vocalist and guitarist of Agalloch, John is also an artist and graphic designer and released even some solo works, the latest “Aurae” this year with Mathias Grassow. Alone on the stage with his guitar, wrapped in grey fog on low red lights, John delighted the audience with a long uninterrupted flow where a wall of sound of atmospheric Noise/Ambient was created with the help of effect pedals. Interesting but not for everybody.

Agalloch (8/10)
Start 22:00 – End 23:50
Agalloch is an American band formed in 1995 that today can be counted among the bands that are tying to bring the Black Metal a step forward. Its unusual name has been taken by the scientific name of the resinous wood of agarwood – Aquilaria agallocha – that seems to reflect the idea of robustness and consistency of its music. Agalloch released its latest fifth album “The Serpent & The Sphere” this May on Profound Lore and the Berlin date signed the beginning of the European tour. Even if the show was affected by some little issues – like every premiere – Agalloch confirmed its majesty and performed a show that maintained high the attention of the audience for the whole concert. Opening with the instrumental “(Serpens Caput)”, followed by “The Astral Dialogue”, Agalloch proposed songs from all five albums, showing its perfect merger of Black Metal, Neo-Folk, Prog and Post-Rock that made the band unique in its genre. The band offered an encore with “Falling Snow” and “Plateau of the Ages”, leaving then the stage one by one, with John alone on stage raising the incense chalices to the sky like a sort of ancestral ritual. A ritual that kidnapped the audience for almost two hours, releasing them at the end with a purified spirit.

And here, as John said, let´s play something from “The Mantle”:
